Overdrive and a new Borg-Warner four-on-the-ground stick could be had with any V-8. Overdrive availability was now restricted to the 260 V-8; the 289s were the ones that could be had with the four-velocity. Motor Trend again thought good handling to be a Fairlane advantage because the automobile offered a “stable, quiet, large-car emotion.” Technical editor Jim Wright rated the Fairlane Sports activities Don “very high to meet customer needs” with the “mild” 289-cubic-inch V-eight and a 4-velocity. Bucket seats, a console, customary spinner wheel covers, and Buick-style cobra 120 bestellen front-fender “vertiports” have been the top marks of distinction between the Sports activities Artisan and the slightly plainer bench-seat Fairlane 500 hardtop.
